Scholarships will be directed
towards EcoHealth researchers (with less than 3 years
of paid or voluntary EcoHealth work experience) and
students who:
- are actively involved in EcoHealth related activities
and are currently working on a PhD or Master thesis
or whose thesis has been accepted or having completed
a Masters or PhD degree in the past 3 years and able
to represent in different formats the activities in
which they are involved.
- have submitted abstract(s) for the Forum and the
abstract(s) have been accepted. (E-mail Notifications
of selected abstracts are to be sent out during the
week of August 18, 2008).
- are willing and able to participate in a variety
of ways at the Forum organized by the Forum Scientific
Program Committee, for example in round tables, different
panels, networking events, note-taking (specific details
to be discussed with the Forum Scientific Program
Committee after the scholarships are awarded).
Requirements:
- Each applicant must present a 2-3 page letter that
includes:
- a clear description of major educational experiences
or professional activities;
- a description of recent involvement in EcoHealth
related activities (community and academic activity,
research, policy making, etc.) and any specific
awards/recognition received;
- Information on proposed, current or recent PhD
or Master thesis work;
- the title(s) of the abstract(s) submitted and
the possible ways the applicant sees to present
the work at the Forum.
- Letter of support from educational institution
or organization where academic work will/is/was carried
out, indicating enrollment dates and program (from
e.g., program director, supervisor, professor, mentor
or adviser on organization/university’s letterhead
paper, as well as, full name, signature, phone
and e-mail of the person who recommends you).
- No more than 5 years after having obtained Master's
or PhD degree
- Not older than 40
To qualify for a scholarship, the applicant must submit
an abstract to the forum and this abstract must be accepted
for presentation. However, please note that
acceptance of an abstract does not guarantee a scholarship
due to the limited scholarship funding available.

The scholarship selection process will be managed by
the Scholarship sub-committee of the Forum Scientific
Program Committee. These scholarships will be awarded
based on merit ONLY and ONLY if the applicant meets
all the requirements described above. These
awards will be FULL Scholarships and are meant to cover
registration to the Forum, travel expenses, per diem
and hotel.
Successful applicants will be notified by scholarships@ecohealth2008.org
by August 31, 2008.
